Tirohanga is the name of the area around the famous surfing location known as Indicators. This was a place where one could see incoming voyaging Waka (canoe) approaching from the Tasman. This image captures the view of Tirohanga from the sea, and stretches past Te Toto Gorge as far south as Ruapuke. The southern swell marches up the coast to wrap around Karioi.
